![]() This game promotes and encourages aggressive play to seesaw the Spirit gauge into your favour, but against regular mobs (which from the demo, are 3 at a time max) you can jump in and out of combat (assuming you're agile enough with equip load) and not fully commit to waiting for a perfect moment for the flashy business on a trash mob you could've killed 10 seconds ago without waiting. So, i just ignored all the intricate stuff and concentrated purely on the combat.įrom tonight's experience i would say that the parry is only really necessary when a red attack is coming from a Mini-Boss/Leader or in boss battles (100%), everything else you can evade if nimble. Plus, this game like Nioh has alot going on with the R2+this, R1+this combos for the various mechanics. I was a little frustrated at first because i've not played Nioh 2 in over a year, and i've got Wild Hearts on the go, so my button muscle memory was a little awry. Team Ninja know what they’re doing and the skill check first boss is planting a flag in the ground and ensuring that you know how the game works and how it must be played to succeed, but I just don’t find it all that fun.ĭemo cleared, and build saved. ![]() ![]() I felt the same about Sekiro to a degree, which I soldiered on through about 75% of before just accepting that I wasn’t really enjoying it all that much. It’s just not a gameplay style I particularly enjoy. ![]() But the rote dependence on parrying unblockable boss attacks in this has me wondering whether I can be bothered. I’ve done ‘em all - platinumed Bloodborne, soloed Elden Ring with sorcery and melee builds, Dark Souls 1-3, Nioh etc. I was 50/50 after the first demo, and although the more lenient parry window in this second demo had me initially nodding with approval and I enjoyed the initial stage stylishly slicing up normal enemies, by the time the second phase of the boss had absolutely fucking annihilated me for about the 20th time my patience was rapidly dwindling. ![]()
